The last couple weeks have been me frantically trying to finish my book. I had about 40k to go and still had no climax or ending. I picked at it for two weeks hoping against all hope that the biggest missing parts would come to me.
When I woke on Saturday I still had no idea what the climax was going to be. The book was due Monday morning and I was at a loss. I procrastinated for most the morning then sat down for about two hours in the afternoon slowly inching my way to the end of the book.
Then it hit me, I knew what had to be done. After a late dinner and an hour or so of more procrastinating, I resigned to my office where for the next three hours I hammered out the climax and ending of the book.
I slumped on the couch in victory around 10pm Saturday night. I’d completed my eleventh full length novel! Before dinner on Sunday it was sent out to my beta’s. They’ll have it now for three weeks.
I’m in that strange spot now where I just finished one project and am in the midst of starting the next. It’s a small lull that usually takes a day or two to get over before I start working on the next book, or promos, or blurbs, or whatever needs to be done.
I already know what the next project will be. You’ll have to sign up for my newsletter to get the inside scoop on that. But I will say that it’s a trilogy that will be released next year and it’s a project I’ve wanted to dig into since 2013.
As for my plans for the next day or two, I think I will partake in some game play, get some more km’s in for my virtual races, and just enjoy the short window of time off. Because before I know it, I’ll be eyebrow deep in beta notes, editor notes, promos, marketing, then a new world, and rinse and repeat!
I don’t think I say this enough, I love my job.
